Energy Entrepreneurs Mixer

Hosted by BERC and Bplan

Call for cleantech researchers

Are you curious about taking your research from the lab to a startup company? Do you want an opportunity to talk with a room of motivated business, policy and law students who would love to combine their expertise in building business plans and envisioning a path to market with your technical expertise? Then present your research at the Energy Entrepreneurs Mixer on November 15th!

If you would like to present your research, please email tom_spooner@mba.berkeley.edu as soon as possible. All you need is a brief 3-4 minute summary of your idea. We will have a projector if you would like to include 1-2 reference slides, but they are not required.

$200,000 prize money is coming up for grabs in the FLoW and Bplan start-up business competitions (see below).  Here are some questions to start the discussion:

  • What is the basic concept behind your research? (This can be more conceptual than technical, imagine you are describing it to your mom.)
  • Are you interested in forming a team for the Bplan and/or FLoW competitions?
  • What is the application to cleantech or renewables?
  • How will your technology be better than the existing solution?
  • Where are you in the development process?

Event Details

Date: Thursday, November 15, 2012
Time: 6:00-8:00 PM
Location: Energy Institute @ Haas (2547 Channing Way, Berkeley, CA, 94270)

The Energy Entrepreneurs Mixer is the first stop for those interested in creating the next generation of Berkeley startups. We will be bringing together innovative science and engineering researchers with motivated students from the business, law, and policy schools. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss emerging technologies with Berkeley researchers, and meet and mingle with other students over beer and pizza.

Once the ideas start flying, we encourage like-minded students to team up and test their ideas in both Bplan and FLoW, the Department of Energy’s national business plan competition for clean energy, to create Berkeley's breakthrough companies of the future!

More information on B-Plan can be found here.
